By 2050, it is estimated that the earth's population will reach 9 billion. The production of soybeans, which have a wide variety of uses, has increased along with demand. On the other hand, however, deforestation associated with agricultural land clearing has reduced CO2 absorption, resulting in higher temperatures and climate change, which ultimately has led to lower soybean yields and a negative impact on the global environment.
In order to support the food supply of 9 billion people with limited resources on the earth, producers, as well as companies and consumers, need to work together to promote sustainable production.

What is SSAP Certification?

With the growing demand for a sustainable U.S. soybean supply around the world, USSEC worked with a wide range of stakeholders to develop the U.S. Soybean Sustainability Assurance Protocol (SSAP) in 2013 to meet the expectations of our U.S. soybean customers. The SSAP is designed to help U.S. soybean farmers meet the expectations of U.S. soybean customers.
The SSAP is part of the U.S. Soybean Farmers Sustainability Program, which contributes to long-term improvements in environmental, social, and economic sustainability outcomes. The results are scientifically based and published in the National Indicators Report, Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture. for Sustainable Agriculture” in the National Indicators Report and updated every five years.
